An Order For Public Instruction, Commander, By Frederico, Costa, C.1925 GTRexclude 1918 Saxon Lady`s Honour AwardIn silver gilt and enameled insignia on an eight pointed star base, vaulted, maker marked "FREDERICO COSTA LISBOA" on the reverse cartouche, measuring 81 mm (w) x 81. 5 mm (h), vertical pinback, intact enamels, light gilt wear on the wreathing, extremely fine. Footnote: The order was founded on January 30, 1919, as an award for outstanding civil servants and teachers. It comes in four classes and a medal, with the Portuguese President as Grand Master.
